DESCRIPTION:Topic: Using DBT in Nutrition Therapy for Eating Disorders\nThis presentation will address the usefulness of DBT skills for the treatment of Eating Disorders.\n\nAttendees will learn\, from an Eating Disorder Dietitian's perspective\, how principles of DBT can be applied to help clients heal their relationship with food. We will cover how to use dialectical thinking\, as well as how to weave in content from the 4 modules of DBT (mindfulness\, distress tolerance\, interpersonal effectiveness\, and emotion regulation.\nLearning Objectives: \n1. List 5 DBT skills sets that are useful in DBT for Eating Disorders.\n\n2. Demonstrate how to effectively weave core DBT concepts into nutrition sessions.\n\n3. Discuss how and why DBT is helpful to the RD in working with ED clients with co-occurring personality and mood disorders.\n\n \n\nAbout The Speaker:\n\n\n\nStefanie Boone\, MS\, RD\, CEDRD is a nutrition therapist for men and women with eating and exercise disorders. She's worked in her private practice on the Westside for the past 15 years\, and held positions as Lead Dietitian at several treatment centers for Eating Disorders\, Dual Diagnosis and Addictions\, including: Eating Disorder Center of California\, Visions Adolescent Treatment Centers\, Clearview Treatment Centers\, Resolutions Therapeutic Services\, and Kaiser Permanente Eating Disorders Program in Hollywood.\n\nStefanie has an added specialization in treating eating disorders in those with co-occurring mood disorders and addictions. She is also trained to teach DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) skills\, and integrates these very effective skills to help clients unlock barriers to healing relationship with food\, exercise\, and body image. She sees clients individually and runs groups to help clients heal their relationship with food. Stefanie owns and runs Eating Disorder Circle\, an Online Eating Disorder Nutrition Therapy Program for adult men and women\, where she provides all services via videoconferencing.\n\nStefanie is one of the contributing authors of Real World Recovery: Intuitive Food Program Curriculum for the Treatment of Eating Disorders.
